Baseball’s Taugner Named Northwoods League All-Star

Official Release | All-Star Rosters

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Sophomore Christian Taugner (Roselle, Ill.), a right-handed pitcher on the Brown baseball team, was recently named to the Northwoods Baseball League All-Star Team. Taugner was one of six players from the Madison Mallards named to the South Division for the annual collegiate summer league all-star team, which will take place on Tuesday, July 22 at 6:45 p.m. (CST) at Kapco Park in Mequon, Wisconsin.

Taugner has started seven games for Madison this summer, pacing the club with 41.2 innings pitched. He also ranks second among starters with a 2.80 earned run average and currently has a 3-1 record to go along with 29 strikeouts and just six walks.

Taugner put together an impressive rookie campaign for the Bears in 2014, making eight starts as a member of the weekend rotation. He led the team with a 2.39 ERA, 49 strikeouts and 52.2 innings pitched, and allowed just 14 earned runs and nine walks. Taugner was a two-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week selection and was also named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week after limiting No. 1 South Carolina to just one run in his collegiate debut.

This year's All-Stars were chosen in a vote by the 18 member teams of the Northwoods League, decided by each team's field staff and media contacts.
