Sheridan, Slaughter Named CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District Selections

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Seniors John Sheridan (Palo Alto, Calif.) and Cody Slaughter (New Port Richey, Fla.) of the Brown baseball team were recently honored for their achievements on the field and in the classroom as both were named to the Capital One Academic All-District I team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Sheridan and Slaughter were both first team selections and now move on to consideration for Academic All-America honors.

Sheridan, an economics major with a 3.67 grade-point-average, was named to the All-District First Team for the second straight season. The senior registered 28 hits and scored 13 runs, while leading the team with 12 steals. A former All-Ivy Second Team selection, Sheridan displayed excellent defense in center field and recently broke into the program's all-time top-10 list for stolen bases.

Slaughter, an economics concentrator, boasted a 3.76 grade-point-average, while providing a strong bat in the lineup for the Bears. Slaughter, who racked up 33 hits and drove in 11 runs, led the team with 274 putouts as the primary first baseman.
