Van Boom Named Ivy League Co-Player of the Week
PRINCETON, N.J. – After an impressive showing in a four-game series against Harvard over the weekend, junior Wes Van Boom (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) of the Brown baseball team was named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Week, announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.
Van Boom led the Bears offensively last week, hitting .400 (8-of-20) with two doubles, two home runs and five RBI. He slugged .800, posted an OBP of .591 and scored seven runs. Van Boom, who shared the award with Jeff Keller of Dartmouth, did not strike out in 20 at bats last week.
Van Boom led Brown to a split with Rolfe Divisional rival Harvard, batting .500 (8-of-16) in the four games. In the two wins for the Bears, Van Boom batted .625 (5-of-8) with five runs, two home runs and five RBI.
Van Boom earns his first career weekly award and becomes Brown's first Player of the Week since Mike DiBiase received the honor on March 15, 2011.
