Baseball Historian, Author to Throw First Pitch before Saturday’s Doubleheader

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Serving as a prelude to one of the richest rivalries in the New England collegiate baseball landscape, author and Rhode Island baseball historian Rick Harris will throw out the first pitch before the doubleheader between Brown and Harvard on Saturday, April 20 at Murray Stadium.

Harris is the author of Brown University Baseball: A Legacy of the Game, which chronicles the long and storied history of Brown baseball and the impact of the program on the sport in New England.

In addition to Harris, a representative from Hasbro Children's Hospital will throw out the first pitch before the second game of the doubleheader due to Brown's recent partnership with the Vs. Cancer Foundation in the fight against childhood cancer. After fundraising for the cause over the past two months, the team will be shaving their heads following the second game of the doubleheader to get bald in solidarity with kids fighting cancer.
