Bears Headed to Nationals

WATERVILLE VALLEY, NH - The Brown women's ski team placed third overall at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships, winning the Giant Slalom and taking fifth in the Slalom.

Sophomore Kelly O'Hear (Niagara Falls, NY) and junior Jamie Johnson (North Kingstown, RI) both went down in the Slalom first run, setting the Bears back. In addition, junior Hilary Swaffield (Wolfeboro, NH) skied out of the course and then jumped back in to hold onto 5th place for the day.

The next day in the Giant Slalom, Brown had a great day, winning the eventahead of UMass and Boston College. O'Hear finished in second, and Swaffield took fourth to lead the Bears. Freshman Sophie Elgort (New York, NY) had a great day and finished in the top 10.

The Bears continue action this weekend when they travel to McCall, ID for the USCSA National Championships.
