Mount Cranmore, NH - The Brown women's skiing team competed in its second carnival of the season, taking fourth place in a pair of slalom races to finish in fourth place overall at the UConn Carnival at Mount Cranmore. Colby Sawyer won both days, while BC was second and Plymouth State was third. Brown was led by sophomore Krista Consiglio (Bethany, CT), who took second place on day one and was fifth on day two.
On the first day, Consiglio's time of 1:47.43 led two Bears in the top-15, as sophomore Blaine Martin (Salt Lake City, UT) grabbed 12th place with a time of 1:51.71. Junior Elisa Handbury (Sydney, Australia) earned 31st with a total time of 1:58.04, while freshman Emily Simmons (Buffalo, NY) took 35th with a time of 2:01.09. Both senior Anna Bengtson (St. Johnsbury, VT) and freshman Kia Mosenthal (Plymouth, NH) did not finish one of their runs.
The next day, Brown was led by Mosenthal, who claimed second place with a time of 1:32.17, while Consiglio was fifth with a time of 1:32.77. Simmons earned 21st place with a time of 1:38.49, while Bengtson was 25th with a time of 1:40.08. Handbury rounded out Brown's top five with a total time of 2:18.05 to finish in 45th.
The Bears are back in action this Saturday and Sunday when they travel to Waterville Valley, NH to take part in the Plymouth State Carnival.
