Position: Head Coach
Karen Finocchio enters her fourth year as Head Coach of the Brown ski team. Finocchio led the Bears to a fourth place finish at the USCSA National Championships and coached three All-America selections last season. Brown also placed second at the ECSC Regional Championships a year ago, placing four skiers in the top ten of the slalom finals, setting a school record.

Finocchio came first came to Brown after successfully coaching the Park City Ski Team (Park City, UT), and the United States Ski and Snowboard Association's (USSA) 2000 Alpine Club of the Year.

Prior to Park City, Finocchio spent two years coaching Mammoth Mountain Ski Team (Mammoth Lakes, CA) where she received the 1999 Far West Division Rookie of the Year Award.

A 1992 graduate of Bates College, Finocchio earned a BA in Political Science and French while also competing for four years in varsity soccer and tennis. During her years at Bates, the women's soccer team set new standards with top ten national rankings and an ECAC title.

After graduation, Finocchio coached for Carrabassett Valley Academy along with two years coaching at Perisher Blue Resort in New South Wales, Australia. While at Carrabassett Valley Academy, Finocchio served as Program Coordinator for the Junior Development Program where the program achieved top results from Junior Olympic competitions to Eastern regional projects.

Following her stint at Carrabassett Valley Academy, Finocchio moved to Mammoth Mountain, California where she worked with Junior Olympic medallists in two of their most successful years.

Moving from Mammoth Mountain to Park City Ski Team, Finocchio served as Head Coach for Development, where the team was named the best Alpine club in the United States by the United States Ski and Snowboard Association for 1999-2000.

Recently, Finocchio served as a guest coach with the United States Ski Team, Men's Development, and Europa Cup Training Camp at Mt. Hood, Oregon.

A National Certified Coach with the United States Ski Coaches Association (USSCA), Finocchio's primary goal is build the Brown Ski Program into a top contender for the National Championship.
