      <title>Bears Finish in Sixth at 2013 USCSA National Championships</title>

      <description>The Brown women&#x2019;s skiing team finished in sixth place overall at the 2013 USCSA National Championships, after a seventh place finish in the giant slalom and a fourth place finish in the slalom. Sierra Nevada won the event, winning both the giant slalom and slalom for a total of two points. Rocky Mountain College came in second with four points, after taking second in both events, while St. Olaf College rounded out the top three with six points, after earning third in both events. The University of British Columbia and St. Anselm tied for fourth with 10 points each.</description>

      <title>Women&#x2019;s Skiing Wins USCSA Eastern Regional Championship for Second Straight Year</title>

      <description>he Brown women&#x2019;s skiing team continued its undefeated season, winning both the giant slalom (Saturday) and the slalom (Sunday) at the 2013 USCSA Regional Championships to claim the Eastern Regional Title for the second consecutive year. Leading the way for Brown was sophomore Nika Mosenthal (Plymouth, MA), who finished second in the overall standings with 150 points after taking fourth in the giant slalom and winning the slalom. Junior Emma Leblanc (Darien, CT) took fourth overall, earning 90 points, with a fifth place finish in both the giant slalom and the slalom.</description>

In Saturday&#x2019;s giant slalom race, Brown finished with a total time of 5:18. 81, more than 10 seconds ahead of second place Castleton State (5:29.44). Clarkson rounded out the top three teams with a total time of 5:32.49. In Sunday&#x2019;s slalom race, Brown finished with a team total of 5:07.71, while Castleton State took second (5:21.15) and St. Anselm finished in third (5:25.77).</description>

Brown returned to Blackwater Ski Area the next day and won its third slalom race of the season, sweeping the podium to lead the team field by nearly 10 seconds.</description>

Skiing at the Castleton State Carnival, hosted at Pico Mountain, the Bears were led by junior Emma LeBlanc (Darien, CT), who claimed second place in both runs to finish second overall with a time of 1:14.60.  Overall, Brown had five skiers in the top 10, while a sixth finished just outside the top 10 in 13th place, as the Bears had a total time (four skiers) of 5:04.81. St. Anselm followed in second place with a total team time of 5:10.87, while Castleton State rounded out the top three with a total time of 5:14.25.</description>
