Skiing Places Third in Slalom at USCSA Nationals

BEND, Ore. – The Brown ski team competed in the slalom on Tuesday, placing third overall, to open competition at the USCSA National Championships held at Mount Bachelor.

The Bears finished third out of 20 teams with a time of 6:45.97. Rocky Mountain College claimed the top spot in the event with an overall mark of 6:35.06 while Sierra Nevada was in second with 6:38.27.

Senior Natalie Pearl (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) turned in Brown's top finish, with a fifth place showing and time of 2:12.99. Senior Ali Gunesch (Sandy, Ore.) followed in 11th place (2:15.21), placing third in her second run, while senior Sylvie Bertrand (Hanover, N.H.) (2:17.77 - 22nd) and Sarah Bell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) (2:31.65 - 51st) rounded out the team's finishes. For her finish, Pearl was named First Team All-American while Gunesch earned Second Team accolades.

Brown returns to Mount Bachelor tomorrow (March 9) to compete in the giant slalom.
