Skiing Continues Winning Ways at the Brown Carnival

BLACKWATER, N.H. – The Brown skiing team scored its 24th consecutive MacConnell Division victory, placing five skiers in the top six at the Brown Carnival slalom event on Saturday.


Kristen Sweeney of Babson placed first overall in the event while the Bears claimed the next five spots overall, led by Sylvie Bertrand (1.39.96) and Natalie Pearl (1:41.15).


Pearl scored a victory on Friday at the Babson Carnival and has placed first overall in two of her first three collegiate events.


The Bears also got strong performances from Emma LeBlanc (fourth, 1:42.79), Amanda Engelhardt (fifth, 1:44.69), and Maria Mastanduno (sixth, 1:44.75).


Clarkson (5:20.40) and St. Anselm (5:25.49) rounded out the top-three on Saturday.


Brown will return to action next weekend at the Clarkson Carnival, a two-day event beginning on Saturday in Whiteface, N.Y.
