Aarhus, Denmark - Brown's Alicia Sacramone (Winchester, MA) recently competed at the 2006 World Championships in Aarhus, Denmark, bringing home a silver medal for Team USA and an individual silver medal on the vault.
"It was a great experience," said Sacramone about her time in Denmark. "But I'm really glad to be back at Brown."
Sacramone, Team USA's team captain, competed in the vault, beam and floor in both preliminaries and team finals, hitting all of her routines during the championships.
In the individual event finals, Sacramone landed her first vault, a front handspring Rudi, posting a 15.475, and on her second vault, a Yurchenko double twist, she received a 15.175 giving her a 15.325 average and as well as a silver medal. She became just the second U.S. woman to win a world silver medal on vault.
Although she nailed her floor routine, a judging decision and interpretation of the new Code of Points kept her out of finals on the floor this year. Last year, Sacramone was the World Champion on floor and finished third on the vault.
