Sacramone Helps Lead Team USA to Finals

Stuttgart, Germany - Brown sophomore gymnast, Alicia Sacramone (Winchester, MA), helped Team USA capture first-place in the qualification round at the 2007 World Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart, Germany. The USA posted a total score of 245.025 to finish ahead of China and Romania at 241.175 and 239.875, respectively.

In addition to qualifying for the team competition, the qualification round also determines who advances to the individual event finals. Sacramone advanced to the individual event finals, as she qualified to compete in the vault and floor finals. She is currently in third place on the vault with a 15.475, while Cheng Fei of China is in first (15.625), and Su Jong Hong of Korea is in second (15.500). On the floor, Cheng Fei is in first with a 15.375, and Sacramone is in a close second with a 15.275.
