Brown Gymnastic Ranks Among The Nation's Best Academically

The Brown gymnastic team ranked 11th in the nation academically, among NCAA Division I gymnastics programs this past season. The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) recognized Brown as a 2005 NACGC/W All-Academic team with an overall team GPA of 3.46. The Bears jumped up two spots from the 2004 season, posting a 3.43 GPA.

Seven of Brown's gymnasts were awarded individual recognition as members of the NACGC/W All-Academic team, having GPA's over 3.5. Freshman Hannah Goldstein (New York, NY) led the Bears earning a 4.0 GPA. Also honored with individual awards were seniors Melissa Forziat (Garden City, NY) and Maya Vadiveloo (Vernon, CT), junior Mandi Baughman (Exter, NH), sophomores Nadia Nguyen (Portland, OR) and Kate Slawsky (Westborough, MA) and freshman Jessica Pestronk (Grand Blanc, MI).
