Sacramone to Compete in NCAA Nationals

Ann Arbor, MI - Freshman Alicia Sacramone (Winchester, MA) earned a first-place finish on the floor exercise with a 9.900 during the Northeast Regional Championships hosted at the University of Michigan on Saturday.

Sacramone is only the second Brown gymnast to ever qualify for NCAA Nationls. The first Bear to qualify was Debbie Fuhrmann '82.

Besides taking first on the floor with a 9.9, Sacramone took fifth on the vault with a 9.875, 15th on the bars with a 9.675, and earned a 9.275 on the beam. Sacramone also finished eighth in the all-around with a 38.725. Her fifth place finish qualifies her to be an alternate for the all-around at the Nationals. Also competing was sophomore Jennifer Sobuta (Maynard, MA), who earned a 9.550 on the beam.

The NCAA Championships will be held on April 26-28 at the University of Utah.
