Providence, RI - The Brown gymnastics team is hosting its first Friday night meet this evening against Bridgeport, the University of Rhode Island, and Southern Connecticut at 7:00 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sport Center.
Sobuta, an all-around competitor for Brown, recently became the Ivy Classic's uneven bar champion with the best performance of her career, a 9.775. Her performance that day was Brown's fourth highest bar score in the history of the program. She was second in the all-around at the Ivy Classic. Sobuta has also notched a personal best 9.825 on the beam earlier this season during the Ocean State Challenge against URI and Rhode Island College, and has posted a personal best 38.15 in the all-around this season.
Albert's 9.575 season high scores on beam and floor and 37.6 in the all-around have been key to the Bears' success this year.
Brown's Binkley and Zanelli have been solid for the Bears all season long. Against Bridgeport last weekend, Binkley led the team on the vault, bars, floor and in the all-around. Binkley holds the team's highest individual score on floor this season with a 9.65. Zanelli has followed closely behind, making solid contributions on every event, including a season high 9.55 on uneven bars.
After tonight's competition, the Bears can be caught in action at home just one more time, as they host their last meet next Friday night (March 21) against Yale at 6:00 p.m.
