Providence, RI - After earning a spectacular second-place finish at the Ivy Classic hosted at Yale on Saturday afternoon, a number of Brown gymnasts garnered All-Ivy Classic accolades after the Bears combined for its best team finish since the 2002 season.
Picking up First Team All-Ivy Classic was sophomore Vida Rivera (Jackson Heights, NY), who earned the uneven bar title with a 9.750 and junior Helen Segal (Los Altos, CA) with a 9.775 for the floor exercise title. Also earning First Team All-Ivy Classis honors on the floor were freshman Katie Goddard (Kings Park, NY) and sophomore Chelsey Binkley (Marietta, GA), who each earned second place with a 9.750.
Sophomore Victoria Zanelli (Katy, TX) earned Second Team honors on the bars, beam and in the all-around. Zanelli placed fourth on the bars with a 9.675, notched a 9.550 on the beam for fifth place, and combined for a 37.625 for fourth place in the all-around. Freshman Lauren Tucker (Farmington Hill, MI) also gave a solid effort on the beam, earning a 9.575 for fourth place on the beam for Second Team All-Ivy Classic honors as well.
Brown is back in action at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, when it hosts West Chester for its final home meet of the 2009 season. The Bears will then head to the ECAC Championships at Yale on Saturday, March 21.
