Providence, RI - Brown freshmen Alicia Sacramone (Winchester, MA) and Stephanie Albert (Sanibel, FL) both earned ECAC Women's Gymnastics Honors after competing at Texas Woman's University with Central Michigan last weekend.
Sacramone, the ECAC's Rookie of the Week, nailed her beam routine and scored a 9.85 to place her in first, and also scored a 9.8 on the bars for second place. Although Sacramone is coming off an injury and was not scheduled to compete in the vault, she filled in when an injured teammate could not compete. Sacramone did a front handspring, scoring an 8.7 out of an 8.8.
In Albert's first event of her collegiate career, she hit her beam routine to earn a 9.725. She was slated to compete all-around, but was injured during her first tumbling pass on the floor. Although Albert had to scratch the meet, she earned ECAC Coaches Choice honors.
The Bears placed third with a score of 175.350, as Central Michigan came in first with a 193.675 and TWU in second with a 189.725. They will take on Cornell, Cortland and MIT on Sunday, Jan. 28, at the Pizzitola Center.
