Providence, RI - The gymnastics team wrapped up their 2006 home competitions with a second place finish tallying a 188.075 this afternoon. The Bears were unable to catch Yale who posted a 189.225 for first, but beat URI's 187.425 and Southern Connecticut's 183.525.
In the first event of the day, vault, sophomore Sarah Durning finished with a 9.525 for a tie in third overall. Anderson was not too far behind with a 9.475 and senior Jessica McNell and Smith rounded out the Bear's top finishers, finishing with 9.4 and 9.375 scores.
Brown exploded on the bars as senior Sarah Cavett recorded Brown's top mark a 9.650 putting her in third and giving the Bears the top team mark in the event, 47.2. Smith finished with a 9.5 and Anderson turned in a 9.4. McNell and sophomore Hannah Goldstein posted a 9.350 and 9.3 in the event.
On the final event of the afternoon, the Bears turned in their top team mark of the meet a 47.575 led by Smith's 9.6. Senior Jessica Pouchet was right behind Smith notching a 9.625 while Pestronk and freshman Rachel Foodman recorded 9.525 and 9.4.
Brown will compete in the ECAC Championships on Saturday, March 25. The championships will be held at URI and begin at 12:00 p.m.
