Gymnastics Defeats Bridgeport, 187.350-183.050, In Regular Season Finale

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Bears closed out the 2002 regular season with a 187.350-183.050 victory over Bridgeport on Sunday afternoon. The Bears took first and second in all five events, including the all-around, and had two 1-2-3 sweeps.
Brown sophomore Jayne Finst led all competition, taking first place in all four events as well as the individual all-around. She scored a 9.550 on the vault, followed by senior Virginia Nuckols, who took second with a 9.500.
Finst led the 1-2-3 sweep of the bars with a 9.425, followed by freshman Kelly Moran, who took second with a 9.375, and senior Jessica Buck, who finished third with a 9.350. Finst also led the 1-2-3 sweep of the beam, winning with a 9.750. Freshman Melissa Forziat took second with a 9.700 and Buck finished in third with a 9.625.
Finst and Buck tied for first on the floor exercise with a 9.725 and Buck took second in the all-around with a 37.875.
The meet marked the final regular season meet for the Bears' three seniors, Buck, Nuckols, and Kate Hirschmann-Levy. Brown continues action this coming weekend when they compete at the ECAC Championships at William & Mary.
