Bears Take First in Tri-Meet with Bridgeport and RIC

The women's gymnastics team took first in a tri-meet with Bridgeport and RIC, scoring a 191.200. Bridgeport took second with a 186.100, followed by RIC in third with a 176.225. Senior Jayne Finst (Delray Beach, FL) led the Bears, winning the all-around with a 39.150 score.

On the vault, Bridgeport took first place and Brown's Finst finished second with a score of 9.7.

Brown swept first-fourth on the bars, with sophomore Sarah Cavett (Hixson, TN) placing first with a 9.8. Senior Gina Verge (Scituate, MA) came in second with a 9.775, while Finst took third with a 9.75. Junior Kelly Moran (Chevy Chase, MD) placed fourth with a 9.725.

On the beam, Brown claimed first and second place, with Finst again leading the competition with a 9.9. Verge took second with a 9.75.

Finally, on the floor, the Bears earned first-fouth with Verge leading the competition with a 9.85 score. Senior Suzanne Schlosser (Tucson, AZ) finished in second with a 9.825, while Finst took third, scoring a 9.8. Junior Melissa Forziat (Garden City, NY) was next with a 9.775.

The Bears will continue action next weekend at the ECAC Tournament , hosted by Pennsylvania.
