Gymnastics Falls To Penn

Philadelphia, PA - Sophomore Sarah Durning turned in the Bear's highest mark of the day a 9.725 on vault, which is also the highest mark in the event for the season but the Bears were unable to get passed Penn, falling to Quakers 186.8- 187.875 this afternoon.

Brown's top finisher in the all-around was freshman Brittany Anderson who notched a 37.9, for third while senior Amber Smith turned in a 37.1 in the event.

Behind Durning second place mark on the vault, Anderson came in third with a 9.650 and Smith came in sixth with a 9.475. Freshman Rachel Foodman rounded out the Bear's top finishers turning in a 9.450 for seventh place overall.

On the bars senior Sarah Cavett turned in Brown's top mark, a 9.450, for third overall. Senior Jessica McNell finished with a 9.275 while Smith rounded out the top finishers posting a 9.2.

Anderson tied for the top mark on the beam, a 9.550 while senior Mandi Baughman's 9.375 was good for third place. Freshman Jennifer Sobuta finished with a 9.125 and Smith recorded a 9.025.

The Bears team mark came on the floor exercise as the Bears posted a 47.375, while the Quakers only tallied a 46.350. Brown's top mark came from Anderson who finished with a 9.575 while senior Jessica Pouchet and sophomore Jessica Pestronk were close behind with a 9.425 and a 9.250.

The Bears will wrap up weekend action with a meet at West Chester tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
