New Haven, CT - The Yale Bulldogs defeated the Brown gymnastics team 188.800-185.825 on Saturday afternoon. Highlights of the day included Brown owning the top three spots on the beam, and defeating Yale on the bars as freshman Alicia Sacramone (Winchester, MA) places first in the all-around, vault and bars.
The Bears best event on Saturday afternoon was the beam, as they locked down the top three spots, with sophomore Jennifer Sobuta (Maynard, MA) tied her personal best, taking first with a 9.800, Sacramone placed second with a 9.775 and freshman Izzy Kirkham-Lewitt (Venice, CA) posted a personal best, 9.650, for third.
Besides Sacramone's title on the vault with a 9.825, Brown's next best scorer was Sobuta, who placed fifth with a 9.425. On the bars, Sacramone's 9.800 took first, and freshman Alanna Kwoka (San Mateo, CA) earned third with a 9.325 and Sobuta placed fifth with a 9.250.
On the floor, Sacramone's 9.700 was good enough for second, while Kwoka finished with a 9.475 and Kirkham-Lewitt scored a 9.225. Sacramone garnered first-place in the all-around competition with a 39.100, and was followed by Sobuta with a 37.550 and Kirkham-Lewitt with a 37.075.
The Bears are back at home on Sunday, March 11 at 1:00 p.m. when they challenge Southern Connecticut.
