Gymnastics Finishes Fourth At Ivy Classic

Providence, RI - With a 188.250 final team score Cornell took the Ivy Classic Championship just beating Penn who finished with a 18.050. Last years' winner, Yale came in third finishing with a 187.675 while Brown finished fourth with a 185.500.

Yale's Alina Liao led the Bulldogs finishing the all-around with a 38.1, the top mark in the event. On the vault Cornell's Colleen Davis and Penn's Lauren Markowitz came in first with a 9.650. On the beam Cornell's Randi Bisbano recorded the top mark in the event a 9.775 while Yale's Miki Seltzer came in first on the floor finishing with a 9.700.

Brown's top performance of the day came from senior Jessica McNell who came in second on the vault with 9.600. Freshman Rachel Foodman was the Bear's second top score in the event, tallying a 9.425.

On the bars freshman Brittany Anderson had Brown's top finish a9.30 while McNell recorded a 9.2.

The beam was the Bear's best event as Brown went two and three as freshman Jennifer Sobuta came in second overall, with a 9.750 and sophomore Jessica Pestronk came in third with a 9.675. Also placing for the Bears was senior Mandi Baughman who came in sixth with a 9.5.

Senior Amber Smith had the top finish for Brown on the floor exercise coming in fifth with a 9.475. Anderson and Pestronk also had strong showing on the floor event tallying a 9.425 and 9.4.

The Bears will return to action on Saturday March 11 when they travel Pennsylvania 1:00 p.m.
