New Brunswick, NJ - The Bears finished this afternoon's quad meet with a 186 mark defeating Brockport who finished with a 183.45. Rutgers won the meet posting a 190.75 while Pittsburgh was not far behind recording a 190.05 mark.
Junior Amber Smith (Fort Myers, FL) posted a 38.150 mark for a third place finish in the all around for Brown. In vault freshman Sarah Durning (Roswell, GA) lead the Bears placing fourth, earning a 9.550 mark. Also placing in the vault event was junior Jessica Pouchett (Miami, FL) who turned in a 9.325 and Smith finishing with a 9.475 mark. The Bears finished the vault event with a combined team score of 46.400, beating Pittsburgh who turned in a 46.275 mark.
Pouchett had the highest mark on bars for Brown finishing with a 9.575 while Smith turned in a 9.550 mark. On the beam Smith lead the Bears finishing with a 9.4 mark while freshman Jessica Pestronk (Grand Blanc, MI) turned in a 9.375 and senior tri-captain Melissa Forziat (Garden City, NY) finished the event with a 9.275 mark.
Smith turned in her best score of the day on the floor exercise, turning in a 9.725 mark. Following Smith, Pouchett finished with a 9.575 mark while Durning had a 9.5 and Forziat turned in a 9.450 mark.
The Bears will have their 2005 home opener Sunday, February 13, when they will compete against Southern Connecticut and MIT for a 2:00 start.
