Cortland, NY - Freshman Brittany Anderson finished first on balance beam and floor exercise, scoring 9.60 on each event, as the gymnastics team (3-4) defeated SUNY Cortland, 186.725-178.975, in a dual meet at Corey Gymnasium.
With a strong performance in all four events this afternoon, Anderson finished second on uneven bars with a 9.4 and posted an all-around score of 38.00. Senior Amber Smith was right behind Anderson tallying a 37.05 in the all-around.
On the bars Brown went 1-2-3-4 as senior Sarah Cavett won the event, posting a 9.575, leading the Bears with a team total of 45.975 to Cortland's 42.175 team score. Anderson's 9.4 gave her a second place finish while seniors Miriam Straus and Jessica Pouchet rounded out the top four finishers, posting 9.375 and 8.975.
The Bears dominated the beam posting a 46.60 team score, and took five top spots, with Anderson leading the way. Senior Mandi Baughman finished in second with a 9.375, Smith's 9.275 put her in third, and Cavett 9.25 was good for a fourth place finish. Sophomore Jessica Pestronk tied for fifth place recording a 9.10.
On the floor exercise Anderson and Smith went one and two as Anderson posted a 9.6 and Smith finished with a 9.575. Pouchet tied for third turning in a 9.475, while Foodman finished the event with a 9.30 for seventh place.
Brown will travel to Springfield College Sunday, February 12 for a 12:00 p.m. meet.
