Bears Finish First in Tri-Meet

Cambridge, MA - Led by freshman Alicia Sacramone (Winchester, MA), the Brown gymnastics squad dominated in a tri-meet against MIT and Boston University on Saturday, by earning a team score of 180.925 for first place. MIT placed second with a 175.800 and Boston University finished in third with a 148.500.

Sacramone took home first place finishes on the bars, with a 9.675, as well as on the beam with a 9.875. On the vault, the Bears took second, third and fourth, starting with freshman Alanna Kwoka (San Mateo, Ca) in second with a 9.550, sophomore Jennifer Sobuta (Maynard, MA) in third with a 9.225, and freshman Izzy Kirkham-Lewitt (Venice, CA) in fourth with a 9.125.

Kirkham-Lewitt also faired well on the beam, with a third-place finish with an 8.950. On the beam, Sobuta followed closely behind Sacramone, who secured first, with an outstanding score of 9.750 for second place. Sobuta also finished second on the floor with a 9.250 and earned first place in the all-around with a 37.125, which included a 9.750 on the beam. Kwoka obtained first on the floor with a 9.400 as well as third in the all-around

The Bears are challenging Rhode Island College and the University of Rhode Island today, at 1:00 p.m.
