Gymnastics Splits Meet With Yale and Springfield

The Brown women's gymnastics team improved its record to 2-4 on the season with a 183.875-175.800 victory over Springfield, falling to Yale in the same meet by a score of 186.800-183.875. Junior Jayne Finst (Delray Beach, FL) led the way, tying for first in the individual all-around with a competitor from Yale.

Finst took third on the vault with a 9.500, behind two Bulldogs, while winning the bars competition with a 9.625. In addition, junior Gina Verge (Scituate, MA), placed on the bars, taking third place with a 9.550.

Finst also won the beam competition with a 9.625, while Verge took fourth with a 9.550. Finst took second on the floor exercise with a 9.625, while sophomore Melissa Forziat (Garden City, NY) claimed fourth with a 9.550.

The all-around competition went to Finst and Kathryn Fong of Yale, who each scored a 38.425. Verge took third in the all-around with a 37.250.

The Bears continue action on Sunday, January 26, hosting Alaska and Southern Connecticut at 12:00 noon in the Pizzitola Center.
