Gymnastics Opens Season at California Berkeley

Berkeley, CA - The women's gymnastics team (0-2) opened the 2005 season in a tri-meet at the University of California took third in the meet with a 179.95. Berkeley won the meet with a 191.85 and UC Davis was right behind them with a 187.375 mark.
The Bears were lead by junior Amber Smith (Fort Myers, FL). Who took fourth in the all-around with a 36.825. In her first collegiate meet, freshman Hannah Goldstein (New York, NY) placed 5th with a 34.425 mark.
Senior Melissa Forziat (Garden City, NY) had her personal best 9.225 in the vault placing her in 12th. Junior Sarah Cavett (Hixson, TN) also had a personal best on the bars, recording a 9.55 mark giving Cavett a sixth place finish.
Smith placed eighth on the beam posting a 9.3 mark while Forziat placed fifth on the floor with a 9.425.
The Bears continue action Sunday, January 16 in a 2:00p.m. meet at Sacramento State.
