Hansen Wins Bars Title, Gymnastics Scores 190.600 at Springfield Quad

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Emma Hansen won the bars title as Brown University gymnastics placed third as a team with a 190.600 in a quad meet at Springfield College with Brockport and Southern Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon at Blake Arena.

Hansen (Cincinnati, Ohio) claimed the bars title for the second time in three meets to open her career. Sophomore Anne Christman (Amherst, N.H.), senior Claire Ryan (Greenwood, Minn.), and senior Regan Butchness (Barrington, Ill.) placed second on vault, bars, and beam respectively.

In their first quad meet of the year, the Bears came in third with their 190.600 while the Southern Connecticut Owls placed first with a 191.000, the Brockport Golden Eagles finished second with a 190.975, and the host Springfield Pride came in fourth with a 188.300.

As a team, Brown scored a 47.400 on vault, 47.800 on bars, 47.675 on beam, and 47.725 on floor.

On vault, Christman paced the Bears with her second-place finish on a season-high 9.525. Sophomore Diana Manzano (New Braunfels, Texas) made her collegiate debut on the event with a 9.500 while junior Gabrielle Hechtman (Bellmore, N.Y.) tallied a season-best 9.475. Junior Julia Green (Exton, Pa.) and freshman Rose Domonoske (Park City, Utah) posted a 9.475 and 9.425 respectively with Domonoske notching a season high.

Hansen led Brown on bars with her 9.750 for first place. Ryan came in second on the event with a season-best 9.675. Freshmen Caroline Warren (Pawleys Island, S.C.) and Kate Nelson (Montara, Calif.) registered a 9.625 and 9.600 apiece.

Butchness finished in second place on beam behind a season-high 9.725 while Ryan matched her season best with a 9.650. Domonoske scored a personal-best 9.600, Hansen posted a 9.450, and junior Cassidy Jung (San Marino, Calif.) added a 9.250.

On floor, Hansen led the way with a 9.700, and senior Anya Barca-Hall (Santa Cruz, Calif.) recorded a career-high 9.675. Christman scored a season-best 9.650, and Green compiled a 9.550.

Next, Brown hosts Bridgeport and Rhode Island College on Sunday, Feb. 4 at noon as part of the team's combined meet with the Brown wrestling program.
