PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Michelle Shnayder (Lincolnshire, Ill.) of the Brown gymnastics team has been named a member of the Capital One Academic All-America Division I Women's At-Large Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Shnayder, a neuroscience concentrator with a 3.90 GPA, co-captained the Bears to the most successful season in Brown gymnastics history, highlighted by a second-straight Ivy Classic Championship and the program's first ECAC Championship. A USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals First Team All-American and All-Ivy Classic First Team pick, Shnayder was named an ECAC Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year and represented the Bears at the NCAA University Park Regional Championships.
The at-large team for the Capital One Academic All-America® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; and bowling, rowing and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
