Gymnastics Earns Three ECAC Weekly Awards

ECAC Division I Women's Gymnastics Weekly Awards Release

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Senior Michelle Shnayder (Lincolnshire, Ill.) earned Co-Gymnast of the Week, freshman Caroline Morant (Chicago, Ill.) grabbed Rookie of the Week and sophomore Alexandra Chretien (Commerce Township, Mich.) was named Specialist of the Week as the Brown gymnastics team took three of the four Corvias ECAC Division I Women's Gymnasts of the Week awards on Tuesday.

The trio of honorees helped the Bears post the best season-opening team score in program history to the tune of 192.550 in a third-place finish at the University of New Hampshire Wildcat Invitational on Sunday.

The Bears are back in action on Friday at No. 16 Rutgers before hosting their home opener on Sunday against Brockport, Bridgeport and Rhode Island College.

In Brown's first meet of the season, Shnayder helped the Bears score a 192.55, a season-opening school record. She was solid on all four events and earned the team's top score on floor.

In the first meet of Brown's season, and her college debut, Morant competed like a veteran. She was solid on all four events and helped set a new school-record, season-opening team score with a 192.55. She had the top score for the Bears on two events and in the all-around.

Chretien had the highest score for the Bears in the first meet of the season. Not only was this a personal best score for her, her score ranks second all-time on bars. Her performance helped Brown to a new school record for a season-opening team total. Chretien finished second overall on the event with tough competition from the University of Minnesota, UNH and Yale.
