Gymnastics: Meet the Freshmen

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown gymnastics team is in full preparation for an eventful 2014 season, which will include defense of the Ivy League Classic Championship and hosting the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals. The Bears roster will be reinforced by the team's five freshmen: Renee Edelman (Maplegrove, Minn.), Tori Kinamon (Peachtree City, Ga.), Jorden Mitchell (Indianapolis, Ind.), Caroline Morant (Chicago, Ill.) and Brooke Williams (Clyde Hill, Wash.).

The quintet enjoyed significant success prior to arriving on College Hill. Edelman, Mitchell and Morant qualified for the Junior Olympic National Championships last season, with Morant taking 10th place All-Around at Nationals after earning the All-Around title at the Region 5 Championships. Mitchell finished fifth All-Around at Region 5, while Edelman placed third All-Around at the Region 4 Championships. Kinamon owns a Level 9 Region 8 title on the uneven bars and qualified for the Level 10 National Invitational Tournament, while Williams is a three-time Junior Olympic Nationals qualifier who won the 2011 Washington State Championship on beam and the Region 2 title on floor.

The rookies took the time to talk to Brownbears.com to help fans get to know the newest members of the gymnastics team.
