Bridgeport, CT- Freshman Danielle Hoffman (Bedford, NY) was named a USAG All-American on the vault and qualified for event finals and junior Emily Lutfey (Los Angeles, CA) earned USAG All-American status on the floor exercise at the 2012 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships hosted at Bridgeport. Individual event finals will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 14.
In the preliminary rounds, Hoffman posted a career-high score on the vault with a 9.775 to place fifth overall in session two. Lutfey followed in 15th with a 9.675 and sophomore Michelle Shnayder (Lincolnshire, IL) finished with a 9.500 (26th).
Also in session two was junior Kasey Haas (Charlotte, NC), who earned a 9.475 on the bars (21st) and Shnayder, who posted a 9.425 to finish 23rd.
On the balance beam, Shnayder finished 18th with a 9.500, Lutfey followed in 25th with a 9.150 and freshman Allison Rubenstein (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ) earned 25th with a 9.150.
On the floor exercise, Lutfey earned a 9.825 to come in eighth place, and Rubenstein posted a 9.675 for 22nd. Hoffman finished in 28th with a 9.575 and Shnayder recorded a 9.500 for 30th.
Shnayder, who competed all-around, finished seventh with a 37.925.
In session one, sophomore Rebecca Freedman (Plainview, NY) came in 13th on the vault with a 9.700, and senior Katie Goddard (Kings Park, NY) placed 26th with a 9.500. Junior Nicole Abdo (Largo, FL) recorded a 9.600 on the bars for 10th place, and senior Lilly Siems (Baltimore, MD) placed 23rd with a 9.375.
Abdo finished 16th on the balance beam with a 9.525 and also 8th on the floor exercise with a 9.750. Goddard rounded out the Brown's competitors finishing 19th with a 9.675.
Hoffman will be competing in the event finals at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Bridgeport's Hubbell Gymnasium.
