Brown Gymnastics Ranks Sixth in NACGC/W 2011 Academic Rankings
Providence, RI- The Brown University gymnastics team compiled a team grade point average of 3.6093 to rank sixth overall in the country in the NACGC/W 2011 Academic Rankings. Also, eight Brown gymnasts were honored as NACGC/W Academic All-Americans, including Chelsey Binkley, Rebecca Freedman, Katie Goddard, Kasey Haas, Julia Meyer, Michelle Shnayder, Lilly Siems and Victoria Zanelli.

Brown Gymnastics Recognizes Award Winners at Banquet
Providence, RI- The Brown University gymnastics team celebrated its 2011 season with a banquet at Twist on Angell in Providence. The student-athletes and coaches honored the team's hard work and season accomplishments with six individual awards. Additionally, five freshmen were presented first-year varsity letter sweaters and two senior captains earned four-year letter sweaters, a Brown tradition that dates back to the 1900s.

Six Bears Head to USAG Collegiate Nationals
Colorado Springs, CO-Six Bears will head out west to compete at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships hosted at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. April 8-10 at the Academy’s Cadet West Gym. The three-day meet will feature eight teams and 19 individuals representing four additional programs. Action begins with two qualifying sessions on Friday, April 8.

Winter Academic All-Ivy Announced
Providence, RI- The Ivy League released its winter list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Binkley Named ECAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year; 13 Bears Selected to All-Academic Team
Providence, RI- Brown senior gymnast Chelsey Binkley (Marietta, GA) was selected as the ECAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was also named to the ECAC All-Academic Team, along with 13 other Bears, the ECAC recently announced at the ECAC Championships hosted at Brown on Saturday afternoon. In order to qualify for the All-Academic Team, gymnasts must have a 3.2 cumulative GPA.

Brown Hosts 2011 ECAC Gymnastics Championships on Saturday
Providence, RI- The 2011 Division I ECAC gymnastics championships will be hosted at Brown University at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Joining the Bears are six other Division I institutions in Cornell, Penn, Temple, Towson, Yale and William and Mary.

Emily Lutfey Earns All-ECAC on Vault & Floor; Bears Earn Sixth at ECAC Championship
Providence, RI- The 2011 ECAC Gymnastics Championship came right down to the wire at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Saturday afternoon, as Cornell claimed its first-ever ECAC title (191.675) by just five tenths of a point over second-place finisher Penn (191.175). Towson, winners of six-straight ECAC Championships, finished in third place with a 191.075, followed by Temple (191.000), William & Mary (190.075), Brown (187.925) and Yale (186.225).

Brown Gymnastics Falls to Cornell
Ithaca, NY- The Brown University gymnastics team combined for a 190.925 and scored a record-breaking 48.650 on the bars, but it wasn’t enough to get by Cornell who tallied a team score of 193.100. Junior Emily Lutfey brought home titles in both the floor exercise and in the all-around competition to lead the Bears this afternoon.

Providence, RI- Senior Chelsey Binkley and junior Carli Wiesenfeld helped lead the Brown gymnastics team to victories over Southern Connecticut and two-time USAG National Champion Bridgeport on Sunday afternoon with a season-high team score of 191.875.

Gymnastics Scores 193.675 at UNH; Set School Record on Beam & Bars
Durham, NH- The Brown University gymnastics team continues to roll as it combined for a team score of 193.675 to set a new season high, and also set a new balance beam and uneven bar record competing against two top-30 teams in Central Michigan and New Hampshire this evening. The Chippewas earned the win with a 195.700, followed by the Wildcats with a 195.225 and then Brown with a 193.675, which was just 0.4 away from breaking the school record.

Gymnastics to “Pink Out the Pitz” on Sunday
Providence, RI- The Brown University gymnastics team will “Pink out the Pitz” in support of Breast Cancer Awareness when it takes on Bridgeport, Southern Connecticut and MIT at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. The Bears will also be honoring their two seniors, Victoria Zanelli and Chelsey Binkley prior to the start of the meet.

Brown Defeats Two-Time National Champion Bridgeport & SCSU
Providence, RI- The Brown University gymnastics gave a stalwart effort today to combine for a season-high score of 191.875 to earn first place after defeating two-time national champion Bridgeport (190.800), Southern Connecticut (188.275) and the MIT Club team (136.75). Brown sophomore Emily Lutfey had strong performances in each event today, and highlighted the day with an all-around score of 38.425 to earn the title.

Brown Gymnastics Finishes Third at Ivy Classic
Philadelphia, PA- The Brown University gymnastics team finished third at the 2011 Ivy Classic hosted at the University of Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon. The Quakers captured the championship with a total of 191.950 points, followed by Cornell (190.550) in second, the Bears in third (188.900) and Yale (185.550) in fourth.

Gymnastics Defeats Alaska; Breaks Brown Records on Vault & Bars
Providence, RI- The Brown University gymnastics team had some outstanding performances this evening during a quad-meet at New Hampshire. The Bears posted a season-high score of 191.500, its highest team score since 2004, to defeat the University of Alaska Anchorage (190.475), but fell to host UNH (194.650) and Michigan State (193.425).

Gymnastics Earns Season High Score 188.3 in Meet vs. Rutgers & Bridgeport
Piscataway, NJ- The Brown University gymnastics team combined for a season-high score of 188.3 at a tri-meet hosted at Rutgers last night to finish in third. Bridgeport edged the Scarlet Knights with a 191.975 to take first place, while Rutgers finished with a 191.975. The Bears had many solid performances at the Livingston Recreation Center, as four gymnasts posted personal records on their respective events.

Gymnastics Falls Short at Arizona State
Tempe, AZ- The Brown University Bears traveled our west to take on the talented Arizona State women’s gymnastics team on Friday evening. The Gym Devils were able to combine for a 191.325 to earn its first win of the season, as the Bears came up short with a 186.875. Sophomore Emily Lutfey highlighted the afternoon by earning the all-around title with a total of 37.625.

Piscataway, NJ- The Brown University gymnastics team earned a score of 184.725 to earn fourth in a quad meet hosted at Rutgers this afternoon. Rutgers secured the top spot with a combined 192.050, followed by North Carolina (190.975) and Penn (188.750).

Gymnastics Starts Strong in Season Opening Meet
Providence, RI- In today’s season-opening gymnastics meet, the Brown University gymnastics team showed no signs of nerves as they racked up a team point total of 188.050, Brown’s highest scoring first meet ever. Overall, the Bears finished in third place, as six-time ECAC Champions Towson finished in first with 191.050, and two-time national champion Bridgeport finished second with 190.100.

Alicia Sacramone Earns Vault Title at 2010 World Championships
Providence, RI- Former Brown University gymnast and 2008 Beijing Olympic silver medalist, Alicia Sacramone (Winchester, MA), won a gold medal on the vault and helped lead the US team to a silver medal at the 2010 World Championships at the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, Netherlands last week. Her career world medal total is now nine, including three gold, four silver and two bronze, tying both Shannon Miller and Nastia Liukin as the U.S. women with the most world medals.
