Browns Vicki Zanelli and Carli Wiesenfeld Honored by ECAC
Providence, RI- Brown’s Vicki Zanelli and Carli Wiesenfeld
received ECAC Gymnastics honors after stellar performances at the
Ivy Classic last weekend. Zanelli received “Specialist of the
Week” honors while Wiesenfeld earned the “Coach’s
Choice” award.
Zanelli earned a personal best when it counted most for the Bears
this past weekend. Having been unable to train for the past two
weeks due to several stitches on the bottom of her foot, she
decided to tough it out and train two days before the Ivy Classic
so she could help her team. She put together an incredible
performance, earning a personal best and winning her event at the
meet, becoming the Ivy Classic beam champion with her 9.775!
Wiesenfeld had the best meet of her career for the Bears at the
Ivy Classic. She was not slated to compete on the beam for Brown on
Sunday afternoon, but she stepped in last minute and entered the
all-around. Wiesenfeld earned personal bests in the all-around, on
vault, and on beam, shattering her previous personal bests. She
earned second place in the all-around (38.225), third on the vault
(9.675) and fourth on beam (9.675). Coming through for the Bears,
she helped her team take second place in an extremely tight
competition, as well as earning a season-high team total.
The Bears are back in action on Saturday, March 20 when it travels
to Towson.
