Brown Gymnasts Earn All-Ivy Classic Honors
Providence, RI- After earning second place at the Ivy Classic on
Sunday with a season-high score of 189.675, the Brown University
gymnastics team had three individuals earn First Team All-Ivy
Classic honors, while three earned Second Team All-Ivy Classic
accolades.
Freshman Julia Meyer (Granite City, IL), a bars and beam specialist
for the Bears, received First Team on the bars after earning second
place with a 9.650. She picked up First Team honors in the balance
beam as well, posting a 9.700 to place third overall.
Junior Victoria Zanelli (Katy, TX) had a big beam routine for the
Bears and registered a 9.775 to earn the title and First Team
All-Ivy Classic honors. Her score of 9.775 was a season-high and a
personal record, and she also helped lead her team to its highest
score total on the beam with a 47. 725.
Sophomore Carli Wiesenfeld (Atlanta, GA) received First Team
All-Ivy Classic on the vault and the all-around, and received
Second Team honors on the balance beam. Her 9.675 on the vault was
a personal record that earned third place at the Ivy Classic for
First Team honors. Wiesenfeld then posted a beam score of a 9.675
to earn fourth place and Second Team Ivy Classic honors.
Wiesenfeld’s all-around score of 38.225 was a personal record
as well, earning her second place at the Classic and Second Team
All-Ivy Classic honors.
Senior Chelsey Binkley (Marietta, GA) received Second Team honors
on both the floor exercise and all-around. Binkley earned
Brown’s highest finish on the floor with a 9.700 for fifth
place, and had an all-around score of 37.250 for sixth overall to
earn Second Team honors.
Brown’s last honoree was freshman Emily Lutfey (Los Angeles,
CA). Lutfey received Second Team All-Ivy Classic honors after
placing fourth in the all-around with a 37.500. She had a 9.5 on
vault, a 9.3 on bars, 9.1 on beam and a 9.6 on the floor at the
Classic.
