Schneider Earns All-America Status With Fifth Place Finish At NCAA Championship

Waltham, MA - Brown sophomore Ruth Schneider finished fifth in women's epee at the 2004 NCAA Championship, earning Second Team All-American honors. Her fifth place finish is one of the best finishes in Brown fencing history as she just missed qualifying for the Final Four. Last year as a freshman, Schnieder placed 12th at the NCAA Championship, garnering Honorable Mention All-American honors.

Schneider won 15 bouts in all and moved from tenth place after the first day of competition to her fifth place finish in the final day of women's competition.

Brown's other NCAA qualifier, freshman men's foilist Jeremy Zeitlin (Piedmont, CA), finished 24th with two victories.

Overall, Brown placed 21st. one of the best finishes in Brown history.
