Five Brown Fencers To Compete In Korea
Five Brown fencers - Avery Nackman ‘13 (Cross River, NY), Cory Abbe ‘13 (Scappoose, OR), Laney Caldwell (Indian Springs, AL), Andrew Pintea (New York, NY), and Kelly McGuire (Park City, UT) - will compete in the USA-Korea Elite fencing Invitational in Busan, Korea, August 4-6, 2011.

Brown Fencing Places 13th in the Country at NCAA’s
The Brown fencing finished in a tie for the 13th overall at the 2011 NCAA Fencing Championship hosted by Ohio State on Sunday afternoon. 30 teams were represented at this year’s finals. The Bears benefited in the four-day tournament from sending five fencers making the championship, the most in program history. All five competitors were underclassmen: four sophomores and one freshman.

Brown Fencing Charges Up to 15th After Day Three of NCAA's
The Brown fencing team moved up six spots on day three of the 2011 NCAA Fencing Championship hosted by Ohio State, to move into 15th overall with one day of competition remaining. . The Bears benefited from sending five fencers making the championship, the most in program history.

Weller Finishes in 19th at 2011 NCAA Fencing Championships
Brown men’s fencer Teddy Weller competed for the second day in a row at NCAA’s, hosted by Ohio State and finished 19th overall in the saber. Brown fencing currently stands in a tie for 21st overall and is just two points back of 19th. The Brown fencing team sent more student-athletes to the NCAA Championship this year than it ever has in program history.

Brown’s Weller Competes in Day One of 2011 NCAA Fencing Championships
The Brown fencing team which sent more student-athletes to the NCAA Championship this year than it ever has in program history, had Teddy Weller compete today in the first day of the championship and Brown currently stands in a tie for 22nd overall.

Five Fencers Now Headed to NCAA Championship at Ohio State
It is official. The Brown fencing team will send more student-athletes to the NCAA Championship than it ever has in program history. Teddy Weller will officially accompany four women’s fencers to the final meet, as the Bears will send five to the biggest event of them all in collegiate fencing.

Four Women’s Fencers Advance to NCAA Championship
The Brown fencing team enjoyed its best NCAA Regional Championship in nearly 11 years as four women’s fencers advanced to the NCAA Championship on March 24-27 at Ohio State. Kathryn Hawrot and Avery Nackman in the foil, Cory Abbe in the epee and Caitlin Taylor in the saber have all advanced to the 2011 finals.

Hawrot Named College Fencing 360 Primetime Performer
Rookie Kathryn Hawrot (Barrington, R.I.), the talented newcomer who paced the top-seeded Brown women's foil team to a title-winning performance at the inaugural U.S. Collegiate Squad Championships (Feb. 27, at NYU), was named one of College Fencing 360's Primetime Performers.

Women’s Foil Leads the Way for Brown at Inaugural USCFS Championships
The Brown women’s foil team was crowned as champions at the inaugural United States Collegiate Fencing Squad (USCFS) Championships, which were hosted by New York University on Sunday, February 27, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

Hawrot Earns First-Team All Ivy Honors at Fencing Championships
The Brown men’s & women’s fencing teams competed this weekend at the Ivy League Championships and it was rookie Kathryn Hawrot who stole the show, earning First-Team All Ivy honors. The men’s team placed fifth while the women finished sixth overall. Harvard took first overall on the men’s side, while Princeton placed first for the women.

Bears Face Tough Field at Eric Sollee Invitational
The Brown fencing team traveled to MIT on Sunday at took on a very difficult field of opponents at the Eric Sollee Invitational. The Bears were victorious over NYU, Hunter and Yeshiva while falling to big time programs Duke, Penn State and Penn.

Brown Fencing Posts Multiple Wins at NFC No. 2
The Brown men’s and women’s fencing teams were in action on Saturday as the Bears hosted the Northeast Fencing Conference meet No. 2. The men’s squad was impressive all around as they picked up victories over all five teams they competed against. The women’s squad picked up four victories, and was edged by a single point in each of their two losses.

Brown Competes at Brandeis Invitational
The Brown fencing team continued its 2010-11 season at the Brandeis Invitational this past weekend. The men’s team was especially exceptional as the squad went 4-1 in competition against MIT, Haverford, Brandeis, Boston College and St. John’s.

After winning their first event of the year two weeks ago at Smith College, the Brown fencing team put on an impressive performance against several squads in Northeast Fencing Conference action.

Brown Fencing Takes Win At Big One Invitational
In the first event of the year at Smith College, Brown fencing finished the day with 10 medals to take a first overall finish, two ahead of second-place MIT. The Bears got a first, two second and three third overall finishes to take the win.
