Brown Women Earn Three Wins, While the Men Earn Two at the Brandeis Invitational

Providence, R.I. - The women fencing squad earned three wins at the Brandeis Invitational after defeating Brandeis and UNC, 15-12 and Boston College, 17-10.  The men earned two victories on the day with wins over BC, 16-11 and MIT, 15-12.   The event was hosted at Brandeis on Saturday, December 5.

In the women's foil, freshman Avery Nackman (Katonah, NY) led Bruno with a 12-3 mark.  In epee, Brown was led by freshman Cory Abbe who finished 9-5 and senior Bridget Smith (North Haven, CT) who was 8-6.  In the saber event, Brown freshman Caitlin Taylor (Elk Grove, CA) and senior captain Randy Alevi (Old Westbury, NY) both compiled 11-4 finishes for Bruno.

In the men's foil, Brown was led by senior Adam Pantel (Mendham, NJ) who finished 9-1, while junior Jonathan Yu (Birmingham, AL) compiled a 7-3 record to help lead the Bears.  In the epee event, Bruno was led by freshman Kelly McGuire (Park City, UT) with an 8-7 finish.  In the saber, sophomore Peter Tyson (Stony Brook, NY) led the way with a 12-3 finish and freshman Teddy Weller contributed an 8-7 finish.

The Bears will be back in action on January 23, when they compete in the NFC #2 at Boston College.
