Brown Fencers Compete at Brandeis Invitational

WALTHAM, MA -- The Brown men's and women's fencing team competed at the Brandeis Invitational on December 1 and both came away with 3-2 records.
Beginning the day with rivals MIT, the women fell 16-11 despite a spirited showing from the epee squad which went 6-3. The men also fell to MIT by a 14-13 mark.
Against defending national champion St. John's, the women lost 24-3 while the men fell 24-3, despite winning four bouts.
Both the women and men rolled through Vassar, Brandeis, and BC with 19-8, 17-10, and 14-13 victories for the women and 18-9, 18-9, and 17-10 victories for the men.
Junior All-American Paul Friedman (San Marino, CA) led the Bears by compiling a 14-1 record at saber. Also turning in impressive performances were junior tri-captain Sophie Klein (Great Neck, NY) with a 11-3 record, and freshman Dan Dorsky (Springfield, NJ) who posted a 10-5 mark. Seniors Michael Kreidman (Garden City, NJ) and Mark Dembitz (Mies, Switzerland) compiled 9-6 records on the day as did sophomore Chris Nemcosky (Bethesda, MD).
