Equestrian Places Second At Connecticut College Show

New London, CT - In an exciting final show of the fall season, the equestrian team finished second at the Connecticut College show, this afternoon in New London, CT. The Bears finished the show with 40 points only losing first by one point to UConn. With the second place finish, Brown finds themselves in second behind UConn by six points.
In open fences, point rider Jamie Peddy placed first while Whitney Keefe took third. Leila Ledsinger and Alexis Gilbard placed fourth in their respective classes. In intermediate fences, Marissa Geoffroy placed first while Katie Rae finished third. Point rider Rachel Roemer had a tough draw and finished in a disappointing fifth. Amy Robinson took first place in novice fences while point rider Galyn Burke finished in second. Cate Alsop and Ariana Arcenas took fifth in their respective classes.
Point rider Jamie Peddy got her second first place finish of the after noon in open flat. Peddy's ride also qualified her for the high point ride off later in the afternoon. Also riding in their second event of the day was Alexis Gilbard and Leila Ledsinger. Gilbard had a fourth place finish while Ledsinger took sixth respectively in open flat. Whitney Keefe had a great ride, but because of an oversight she was not listed by the judges, therefore did not place in the event. Point rider Marissa Geoffroy joined Peddy in the high point ride off, after her first place finish in intermediate flat. Ariana Arcenas placed in second in her first show after pointing up and after a tough draw Rachel Roemer took fifth place. In novice flat, point rider Galyn Burke and Cate Alsop placed third in their respective classes. Also in novice flat, Katie Rae placed first while Amy Robinson took fifth place for the Bears. In the high point ride off, Geoffroy and Peddy represented Brown in the five rider competition, where Peddy took first.
In advanced walk trot canter Kim Mickenberg finished third. Point rider Jenny John looked to have placed first in beginner walk trot canter, but another rider had a slightly quieter leg, placing John at second. Anna Mori placed first while Sarach Clark had a third place finishing in the event.
In walk trot Francesca Dasso took first while Kelly Qu, point rider Sarah Morris and Lizzy Freudman each placed second in their respective classes. Also placing in walk trot, was Aurora Tower, who took third in the event.
This afternoon marked the final show for captain Leila Ledsinger `04, who was honored by friends and family after the show. The equestrian team will return to action in the Spring to regain the top spot in the region.
