Storrs, CT - The equestrian team placed second in the Connecticut show finishing the day with 32 points. The bears now drop to second place in the region, only two points behind leader Connecticut with two shows remaining in the fall season.
In Open fences, point rider Jamie Peddy placed third while Whitney Keefe placed first. Alexis and Gilbard and Leila Ledsinger both placed fifth in their respective classes. In intermediate fences, Jess Mendelson finished in second despite knocking a rail down. Point Rider Rachel Roemer and Jane Palomino finished third in their respective classes and Gillian Heinecke took fifth place. In novice fences, Galyn Burke and Amy Cameron took second in their classes while point rider Heidi Abrecht and Amy Robinson each placed fourth. Point rider Rachel Roemer finished in first for intermediate flat while Marissa Geoffroy finished second, Jess Mendelson took fourth and Jade Palomino finished in fifth place. In novice flat, point rider Gayln Burke finished in first place while Heidi Abrecht placed second, Amy Robinson took third and Amy Cameron placed sixth.
Katie Goetz placed second for the Bears in advanced walk trot canter while Kim Mickenberg took third. Cate Alsop and Jenny Fauth finished in fourth for their respective classes while point rider Dana Liljegren finished out in fifth. In beginner walk trot canter, Gabby Gargano and Anna Mori both took first in their classes while Rebecca Sills placed fifth. Both Connie Lee and Sarah Clark finished in sixth in their respective classes. In the final competition of the afternoon walk trot, Aurora Tower took first for Brown while point rider Sarah Morris and Kelly Qu finished second in their respective classes. Lizzy Freudmann closed out the day for the Bears finishing in sixth place.
Brown will travel to Middletown, CT Saturday, November 12, to compete in the Wesleyan show to try to regain first place in the region.
