Gales Ferry, CT - Brown seniors Whitney Keefe (Wellesley, MA) and Stephanie Carmack (Pawcatuck, CT) qualified for the Zone 1 Championship as individuals, finishing second in Open Flat and Walk Trot, respectively, at the Region 1 Championship on Saturday. They were joined by Amanda Forte '02, who finished second in Alumnae Flat, in qualifying from the show, at which no team score is kept and the top two riders in each class qualify for Zones.
The Bears also had a few near misses. The closest call was sophomore Elizabeth Giliberti (Washington, DC), who pinned third in Intermediate Fences. Sophomore Rachel Griffith (Merrimack, NH) also narrowly missed qualifying, pinning fourth in Novice Fences.
