Storrs, CT - Brown continued a terrific spring season with another first over the weekend, tying with Johnson and Wales for the win at 39 points apiece. With the victory, the Bears increased their lead in the season standings to an impressive 30 points, while junior Liz Giliberti (Washington, D.C.) clinched her spot as the Region's Cacchione Cup rider, assuring her of a chance to compete at the IHSA National Championships.
Though the competition got off to a slow start for the Bears, as they got just five points from the first two events, freshman Rebecca McGoldrick (Virginia Water, England) turned the tide in Novice Flat, taking first in her class to give Brown seven points. That performance started a run in which Brown took first in four of five classes, propelling them into first place.
Following McGoldrick's ride, rookie Kelsey MacMillan (Anchorage, AK) took first in her class of the Walk Trot division. Giliberti then pinned first in Open Fences, followed by yet another blue ribbon in the Intermediate Fences, this one from junior Emma Bogdonoff (New London, CT).
The Bears will be back in action on March 14, when they travel to Johnson and Wales for the final show of the regular season.
