TIVERTON, R.I. – Brown University equestrian took first place as a team to win its first show of the spring and its fourth of the season at the Assumption College IHSA Show on Sunday at Nora Harris Equestrian.
In a show rescheduled from Mar. 3, the Bears earned their first team victory of the spring after tallying three team victories in the fall.
Three Bears earned blue ribbons on the day as sophomore Hannah Guevara (Pasadena, Calif.) pointed up with a first-place finish in intermediate fences, senior captain Sara Nordstrom (Medina, Wash.) came in first in open flat, and sophomore Renee Seto (Barrington, R.I.) placed first in novice flat for the second time on the weekend.
Nordstrom added a fifth-place finish in open fences, and fellow senior captain Victoria Flagg (Great Falls, Va.) supported her in the division with a sixth-place finish.
Freshman Hannah Woolley (Medfield, Mass.) came in fourth in intermediate flat, and senior Madison Kuhn (Lancaster, Pa.) placed fourth in novice fences. In walk-trot, sophomore Sophie Starck (New York, N.Y.) posted a second-place finish while in walk-trot-canter senior Sara Sellers (Washington, D.C.) also finished in second.
Next, Brown competes at the Region 1 IHSA Show on Sunday, Mar. 18 at Hunter Ridge Farm in Ashaway, R.I.
