Buchsbaum Leads Equestrian in Season Finale at Ivy Show

RINGOES, N.J. – Junior co-captain Elena Buchsbaum qualified for the championship rounds of both intermediate fences and intermediate flat to lead Brown equestrian to a fifth-place finish in its season finale at the Ivy Show at Briarwood Farm on Saturday.

In her initial competition, Buchsbaum (Madison, N.J.) finished third in both intermediate fences and intermediate flat. Moving to the championship rounds, she placed fourth in fences and fifth in flat, making the callback round.

Junior Tess Carter (Tucson, Ariz.) came in fourth in both open fences and open flat while junior Amanda Picciotto (New York, N.Y.) finished in sixth in open flat. Senior Hailey Roumimper (Scotts Valley, Calif.) came in sixth in intermediate flat and also competed in intermediate fences.

In novice fences competition, senior co-captain Meg Hassan (Exeter, N.H.) placed third and freshman Anna Seto (Barrington, R.I.) came in fifth. In novice flat, Hassan narrowly missed a chance to compete in the championship round, again placing third, and Seto finished in fourth.

Freshman Elizabeth Rao (Andover, Mass.) rounded out the competition – which Brown, Princeton, and Penn co-hosted – for the Bears with a fifth-place finish in beginner walk-trot-canter.

The Bears will resume competition in the first weekend of October next fall as Brown did not qualify any riders for the IHSA National Championships this season.
