Five Riders Compete for Equestrian at Zone 1 Region 1 Regionals

TIVERTON, R.I. – Junior co-captain Elena Buchsbaum finished in third place in novice flats to lead the Brown University equestrian team at the Zone 1 Region 1 Regionals on Saturday at Claddagh Farm.

Buchsbaum (Madison, N.J.) took third after two rounds of callbacks while senior Hannah Estlund (Providence, R.I.) did not place in a field of 16 riders in novice flat.

Junior co-captain Alisa Berg (St. Louis, Mo.) recorded a ninth-place finish amongst 10 riders in novice fences.

In walk-trot-canter, junior Alexa Van Hattum (Grand Rapids, Mich.) did not pin in a field of 18 riders, and in walk-trot, senior Leah Loerinc (North Dartmouth, Mass.) came in eighth place out of 10 competing riders.

Brown did not qualify any riders for the Zone 1 Finals as only the top two riders from each class at regionals move onto the next stage of the postseason.

Next, the Bears will conclude their season at the Ivy Show at Briarwood Farm in Ringoes, N.J., on Saturday, April 18.
