GLADES FERRY, Conn. – The Brown equestrian team qualified 13 riders for 15 spots at Regionals with a sixth-place team finish at the Region One Show at Mystic Valley Hunt Club on Saturday. The Bears conclude the season in fourth place in the regional standings, while the University of Rhode Island won the show and placed first in the region to qualify for Zones.
The following Brown riders qualified for Regionals with their performance this weekend:

The Bears commenced on open fences where Baughen and senior Kelsey MacPherson (Kansas City, Mo.) took sixth place in 8A and 8B, respectively. On to intermediate fences, Buchsbaum pinned third in 6B, Rabb placed third in 6C and McGoldrick took fifth in 6A.
MacPherson turned in another solid performance with a fourth-place finish in open flat 7B, while Rabb secured one of Brown's best placings of the day with a second-place showing in intermediate flat 5A. McGoldrick, freshman Samantha Spear (Chester Springs, Pa.) and Berg all grabbed fourth in 5B, 5C, and 5D to compliment Rabb's intermediate flat ride.
Freshman Ariadne Ellsworth (Santa Fe, N.M.) took fifth in novice fences 4B, while Buchsbaum (3A) and Kirk (3B) each pinned second in novice flat to cap the Bears' strongest performance in any one event of the day.
WTC saw sophomore Alex VanHattum (Kentwood, Mich.) secure fourth in 2AA and junior Leah Loerinc (North Dartmouth, Mass.) pinned third in walk trot 1A to wrap up the event.
Brown's qualifiers will compete at the Region One Finals next Saturday at Claddagh Farm in Tiverton, R.I. The top two riders in each division will move on to Zones on Apr. 5 where they will vie for a trip to Nationals.
