    Baughen to Represent Equestrian at IHSA Nationals SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Brown equestrian freshman Kabisa Baughen (Sarasota, Fla.) qualified for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Championships for her performance in the open fences at the Zone One Finals at Mount Holyoke College on Saturday. Senior Sophia Rabb (Weston, Mass.) also competed in novice fences, narrowly missing national qualification. Baughen will ride on college equestrian’s biggest stage at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pa., on Thursday, May 1.

    Equestrian Finishes Fourth in Region, Qualifies 13 Riders for Regionals GLADES FERRY, Conn. – The Brown equestrian team qualified 13 riders for 15 spots at Regionals with a sixth-place team finish at the Region One Show at Mystic Valley Hunt Club on Saturday. The Bears conclude the season in fourth place in the regional standings, while the University of Rhode Island won the show and placed first in the region to qualify for Zones.

    Equestrian Opens Spring Season at Holy Cross, JWU PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Samantha Spear (Chester Springs, Pa.) and senior Sophia Rabb (Weston, Mass.) won their classes in intermediate flat and novice flat, respectively, in a third place finish at Johnson & Wales on Saturday while senior Charlotte McGoldrick (Virginia Water, England) won High Point Rider of the day after winning intermediate flat to bump the Brown equestrian team to second place at Holy Cross on Sunday. The Bears’ opening weekend of the spring puts the team third in the region with 226 points.

    Novice Fences, Walk Trot Riders Shine as Equestrian Competes at RIC Show GLADES FERRY, Conn. – Freshman Ariadne Ellsworth (Santa Fe, N.M.) collected two blue ribbons to highlight a slew of strong performances in novice fences and walk trot as the Brown equestrian team finished in sixth place at the Rhode Island College Show at Mystic Valley Hunt Club on Saturday. Brown wraps up its fall season in third place in the region with 199 points, trailing only URI (229) and Roger Williams (227).

After a slow start, Brown earned a slew of critical finishes in the walk trot canter to move up the standings and take a hold of third place in the region.

    Equestrian Finishes Third at Home Show WARREN, R.I. – A tightly-judged, low-scoring show saw the Brown equestrian team take third place at the Brown University Show on a warm and sunny fall day at Windswept Farm on Sunday. Although no teams broke the 30-point mark, Brown rode the strength of 12 top-three finishes to accumulate 20 points, trailing only first-place Roger Williams (29), Becker (24) and Rhode Island (24).

The Bears narrowly missed taking the top overall spot and trailed first-place Becker College, which earned its first-ever victory, by a mere four points.
