Marchin, Gaziano Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Men’s ice hockey junior forward Tommy Marchin and women’s basketball sophomore guard Justine Gaziano have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Nov. 27 to Dec. 3, Brown announced on Monday. 

Tommy Marchin, Men’s Ice Hockey, Junior, Algonac, Mich.
Junior forward Tommy Marchin posted five points over the weekend, including a four-point game and a hat trick to lead Brown to a comeback win at RPI. A native of Algonac, Mich., Marchin scored twice midway through the third period to spark the four-goal comeback and then assisted on the game-tying goal in the 5-4 overtime win against the Engineers. He also scored against Union on Friday and has six goals and seven points over the last four games.

Justine Gaziano, Women’s Basketball, Sophomore, Natick, Mass.
Sophomore guard Justine Gaziano scored 20.7 points per game last week, helping Brown go 3-0 and win back-to-back Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament titles. A native of Natick, Mass., she earned Tournament MVP honors, leading all scorers at the tournament with 23.0 points per game. She scored a game-high 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting in a 72-60 win over Bryant in the championship game. She netted a game-high 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting in a 64-59 win over Providence in the semifinals. For the week, she shot 53.7 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from 3-point distance, and 83.3 percent from the free throw line.
